Our mother’s always tell us we can be whatever we want to be. While I consider this statement to be a necessary parental reinforcement, I haven’t always considered it to be the honest truth.
Nowadays however, information sharing is in overload, and online video –video tutorials in particular– have given Internet users the ability to become Superman (literally, here’s how). Websites such as YouTube, WonderHowTo, TeacherTube , and the like, have brought the world to our monitors, enabling us to move mountains by the click of a mouse (or at least, teach us how).
With this amount of video content making its way through the digital maze, it seems safe to assume that much of it is watched for informative and educational purposes. The topics of online video are not restricted to the regular subjects taught in school, providing internet users with the tools necessary to become educated in almost any subject imaginable.
I find technology to be a great example of this. Technological advancements can be intimidating for anyone, especially those who’ve spent much of their lives without our beloved Internet. For these tech newbie’s, even the word “technology” is enough to make their heads spin. But with the help of video tutorials like “Teaching Senior Citizens to Use The Internet”, our grandparents can become the next Steve Jobs in no time, or if nothing else, learn how to use a webcam with clarity and ease like the folks below.
The opportunity to learn with the help of online video is endless. Of course a bit of research is required to track down the most educational video tutorials that are worth your while, but once found, that information can be the biggest step in pursuing your wildest dreams. Maybe our Mother’s were right after all.
